On the ledge of knowing every
thing—this is the conspiracy of death
beds, the air of calm in which last
breaths reside. Side again with
me, so I know your heart is sweet.
Give me letters printed in dusty
bowls of grit when the porcelain
is emptied. Allow me this: one
bite more than Eve. Then we’ll
spin the garden into a new web,
you and I.
